Maintpartner wins Fortum power plant maintenance and operation agreement in Nokia

Maintpartner and Fortum have signed a full-scope operation and maintenance agreement targeting Fortum’s combined heat and power plant located in Nokia, Finland.

The plant’s 16 employees will transfer to Maintpartner’s payroll on June 1, 2010.

Fortum acquired the Nokia power plant in January 2010. Fortum Heat’s Production Manager Kosti Rautiainen notes that, as the new owner, Fortum wants to actively develop the Nokia power plant’s operations to be increasingly more competitive.

"The most important targets of this agreement from a customer perspective include maintaining the good operational availability currently enjoyed and improving the energy efficiency of production. The new, flexible operating model will allow us to optimize our use of the local partner’s know-how and resources," says Rautiainen.

Maintpartner’s sites in the Tampere region are located in Nokia and Ikaalinen.

"We believe that, as a strong local player, Maintpartner will be able to develop the flexibility and overall efficiency of the operations. Additionally, our company’s strong investments in improving overall efficiency of operation and particularly maintenance processes brings significant added value to our customer," says Maintpartner’s Raimo Huhtala, Vice President, Region Central Finland.
