Maintpartner modernized Finland’s biggest injection moulding machine in Nastola
In late summer 2009, Maintpartner’s engineering unit in Central Finland embarked on a sizable modernization project of an injection moulding machine at Uponor Suomi Oy’s Nastola factory in Finland.
Maintpartner was responsible for the modernization engineering and implementation as well as the installation of the machine. The hydraulics, electrification and automation of the machine, originally commissioned in 1998, were modernized. To our knowledge, this is the biggest injection moulding machine in Finland.
After test use, some additional modifications were made to the machine based on the customer’s requests. Uponor started up trouble-free production with the machine in the beginning of January.
Maintpartner’s engineering unit in Central Finland was responsible for total engineering based on the specifications received from Uponor. Maintpartner employees around Finland participated in the installation work.
-The most challenging part of the project was determining the machine’s specifications. It is an old machine manufactured in the United States, and it differs significantly from corresponding European equipment. The project was implemented in smooth collaboration with the customer, notes Regional Manager Jani Muilu from Maintpartner.
